ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

Edvation respects the privacy of teachers, students, and education administrators and has a strict policy to ensure our users' information is private. To use Edvation’s Services it is necessary for you to provide some personal information. We collect only as much information as we need for specific purposes. This Privacy Policy explains why we collect this information, how it is used, and how it is protected. By accessing and using this Web site, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy applies to Edvation sites only. We do not exercise control over third party sites made available through Edvation Services or other sites that include links to Edvation Services. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data, or solicit personal information from you.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION IS COLLECTED AND HOW IT IS USED

User Accounts
Edvation does not collect information from children under the age of 13.

Access to password-protected Services is usually purchased by state, district, or school entities. The entity makes end-user accounts available to teachers and/or students who are associated with the entity and who are authorized by the entity to access the licensed, password-protected Services.

To establish entity accounts, we collect information about the entity as well as the entity’s nominated account administrator. We collect the organization's name, address, telephone, fax, and email address. For the nominated account administrator, we collect name, position, telephone, fax, and email address. We collect this information so that we can work with the authorized account administrator to coordinate the use of the Services at the entity.

To establish end-user accounts, we collect the end user’s name and in some cases email address. The end-user account is linked to the entity account.

Private information is used to identify individual accounts, provide the account owner with account details, such as passwords, and to provide technical and other support. Edvation emails users about matters directly related to their accounts such as workshop completion, password recovery, and new content availability. We do not email users about third party commercial products.

Requests for Information
Visitors to Edvation sites may register to receive Edvation marketing materials or Edvation newsletters. To facilitate delivery of these materials we collect an email address. To ensure that individuals can only subscribe themselves, the registration process includes a confirmation email sent to the nominated address. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time.

Student Grades
Some Edvation products include a facility in which teachers can record student grades. This data is protected by FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.

User Communications
Some Edvation products include internal communication systems that facilitate engagement among end users. When you use these systems to upload digital content or to send messages, your consent to disclosure is implied and Edvation shall not be responsible for any further disclosures which may result from such posting.

Usage Reports
Some Edvation products include a facility that provides usage data to entity account administrators. For example, some entities purchase Services that include the ability to see when an authorized end-user has logged into the Service and which particular Services were accessed and used. This data is not provided to any other entity.

Server Logs and Cookies
Edvation uses cookies and log file information to store a user's session while they are logged in and to provide custom, personalized content and information. When you access Edvation Services via a browser, application, or other client, our servers automatically record the page requests made. These server logs typically include your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, and the date and time of your request. Edvation may associate that information with your personal account.

Edvation uses general statistical information about people visiting Edvation sites in order to determine the composition of our client base and to improve and better market our products. For example, we need to know what geographical areas visitors are coming from, what browsers are being used, and what response times are being experienced.

Limited Information Sharing
In the event that Edvation, a subscribed entity, or law enforcement authorities have reasonable basis to suspect that a user is engaging in, or attempting to engage in illegal conduct, misappropriation of password access, violations of this Agreement or other applicable Terms of Use, or misconduct, personal information may be disclosed in order to facilitate the investigation of the suspected misconduct.

INFORMATION SECURITY

Edvation uses appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices to protect against unauthorized access to, or unauthorized alteration of or disclosure of personal data. These measures include organizational, physical security, and encryption to restrict access to Edvation’s employees, contractors, and agents who (i) are bound by confidentiality agreements, and (ii) require access to process the data.

Edvation provides ways for you to access your personal information so you can correct inaccuracies. We will also delete data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes.

POLICY CHANGES

This policy is effective as of February 9, 2012. We reserve the right to revise our Privacy Policy. Notice of revisions will be posted here.
